How to fix decorations firmly in place
How long they last depends entirely on the way you attach them. If you work with gel polish, apply a small drop of gel or special gem glue where the decoration goes. Pick up the gem with a wax pencil or tweezers, press it gently into the gel and cure it under your lamp. Then run a thin layer of gel around the base of the gem and cure again, so it is properly encapsulated and does not snag.
What to look out for when choosing
Look at the height of the decoration: flat gems and studs stay put the longest and are more comfortable for everyday wear. Large charms and tall pearls are spectacular, but save those for a special occasion or place them on one or two accent nails. Also mix sizes for a more natural result: a larger centrepiece with smaller gems around it often looks nicer than everything the same size.
