Gel Eyeliner
Gel eyeliner: the best of a pencil and a liquid liner
A gel eyeliner sits right between an eye pencil and a liquid liner. It glides across your lid as softly as a pencil, but gives you the intense, even line you would normally need a liquid liner for. And because the formula sets in about a minute and then stays put, your line lasts all day. At Boozyshop you will find over 75 gel eyeliners from Essence, Catrice, Inglot, Moira, Maybelline, LA Girl and Technic.
Pot or pencil: which one do you pick?
A gel eyeliner in a pot goes on with a fine eyeliner brush. That takes a bit of practice, but you decide exactly how thick your line gets and you can smudge the gel out for a smokey edge. The Stay & Play Gel Eyeliner Pot from Essence and the AMC Eyeliner Gel from Inglot are the classics here. A gel pencil you simply pick up and go: no brush, no waiting, and much easier if you want to touch up on the move. The Satin Blend Gel Eyeliner and Stay & Play Gel Eyeliner from Essence and the 20H Ultra Precision Gel Eye Pencil from Catrice are among our best sellers.
Waterproof gel eyeliner
About half of our gel eyeliners are waterproof. Handy on a hot day, at the gym or during a film that makes you cry. Just remember to take it off with an oil based cleanser, because water alone will not shift it.
Gel eyeliner in colour: from black to multichrome
Next to classic black and brown you will find grey, blue, green, mauve, burgundy and white. If you want something that stands out: the Supernova Multichrome Gel Liner and Chromatic Show Liner from Moira shift colour as the light hits them, and the Shockwave Neon Eyeliner from LA Girl gives you bright neons. For a festival or a shoot that is what makes the difference.
How to apply a gel eyeliner
- Start on a clean, dry and oil free lid. Gel grips less well on oily skin.
- Draw small dashes along your lash line first, then join them into one line. That is more accurate than one long stroke.
- Work from your inner corner outwards and make the line slightly thicker towards the outer corner.
- For a wing: rest the tip against your lower lash line, draw a diagonal line upwards and then fill it in.
- Blink as little as you can for a minute while the gel dries. After that it stays where you put it.
Removing a gel eyeliner
Hold a cotton pad with an oil based or biphase remover on your closed eye for a few seconds, let it soak in and then wipe gently outwards. That way you never tug at your lashes.
