Salicylic Acid / BHA
Salicylic acid is a beta hydroxy acid (BHA). Unlike AHAs, BHA is oil-soluble. That allows it to get into the pore, where it helps loosen sebum and dead skin cells. Salicylic acid is therefore a favorite for oily or combination skin with blackheads, enlarged pores and blemishes.

Building up BHA safely
Start with a BHA exfoliant two or three evenings a week and build up slowly if your skin tolerates it well. Acids can make skin more sensitive to the sun, so always use SPF during the day. Don’t combine BHA on the same evening with glycolic acid (AHA) or retinol.
