Makeup brush sets
Makeup brush set: every brush you need in one set
A brush set is the fastest way to build a complete collection of makeup brushes in one go. Instead of gathering single brushes over time, you get a matching set for your face and eyes straight away, often with a pouch, holder or brush belt included. At Boozyshop you will find makeup brush sets in every size and price range, from a compact set of four brushes to an extensive set you can create a whole look with.
What is in a makeup brush set?
Most sets are built around the same core. You get a large powder brush, a foundation brush or blender for your base, a smaller brush for concealer, a blush or bronzer brush and a few eye brushes to apply and blend eyeshadow. The bigger the set, the more specialist brushes come with it: a fluffy blending brush, a dense contour brush, an angled eyeliner brush or a spoolie for your brows. So do not only look at the number of brushes, but mainly at which ones you will actually use.
A brush set for your face or for your eyes
There are three kinds of sets. A face set is built around larger brushes for foundation, powder, blush, bronzer and contour. An eye set consists of smaller brushes for eyeshadow, blending, eyeliner and brows. And a complete set combines the two, so you have everything from base to eyes. Already have a foundation brush you love? Then a separate eye set is usually a smarter addition than another complete set.
Which brush set suits you?
You do not have to start with a set of fifteen brushes. Look at how you do your makeup instead:
- Beginner: a set of four to six brushes with a base, powder, blush and eyeshadow brush covers almost every everyday look.
- Advanced: a set of ten brushes or more gives you dedicated brushes for contour, highlighter, concealer and precision work around the eyes.
- On the go: a travel set with short handles and a pouch fits in your bag without the bristles getting squashed.
- As a gift: a set in a box or with a holder included is a gift that is ready to go.
How much does a makeup brush set cost?
The price mainly comes down to the number of brushes and the type of bristles. Synthetic bristles work beautifully with liquid and cream products and are easier to clean, and those are exactly the ones you find in most sets. A small set already works out at a few euros per brush, while an extensive pro set with a pouch sits higher. So work out the price per brush instead of only looking at the total, and you will see straight away which set gives you the most.
How do you clean the brushes in your set?
Wash your brushes once a week if you use them daily. Use lukewarm water with a mild shampoo or a brush cleanser, and keep the bristles pointing down so no water runs into the metal ferrule. Gently squeeze out the moisture, reshape the bristles and let them dry upside down or lying flat. That keeps the glue under the bristles intact and your brushes in shape. In between, a spray cleanser is enough for a quick clean, so you can use the same brush for another colour right away.
How do you store your brush set?
Only put your brushes away once they are completely dry, and stand them upright with the bristles facing up or lay them flat. The pouch or roll that comes with many sets is ideal for travel, because every brush has its own slot. At home a brush holder works better: you can see at a glance what you have and always grab the right one.
